  15. known for his analysis of literary archetypes, Anatomy of
  16. Criticism; in Toronto. Frye first made his mark in 1947 with
  17. Fearful Symmetry, his pioneering study of the English Romantic
  18. poet William Blake. In literature, Frye contended, the
  19. recurrence of such common images as the sea or the forest can
  20. be understood only as archetypes connecting one poem with
  21. another, thus integrating our reading.
